Our Auburn, WA location is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to work with suppliers to help maintain the quality standards required.

Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer is the primary point of contact between Norgren GT Development and its suppliers on matters related to initial part qualification and effective quality issue resolution. The Supplier Quality Engineer supports both the Quality and the Materials Groups by ensuring that parts, materials, and sub-assemblies received from suppliers consistently conform to specified requirements. This position is also responsible for assuring that supplier selection,qualification, maintenance, development and change activities are conducted in accordance with company requirements.

Responsibilities

Duties

  • Developing a supply base, driving improvements in supplier quality, delivery, cost and systems;

  • Coordinate with suppliers for compliance with corrective action requests;

  • Supports the introduction of new and derivative products (NPI, DPI);

  • Coordinate supplier change activities, assuring change schedule is maintained.;

  • Conduct quality system assessments of suppliers as required;

  • Maintains the Approved Supplier List, assuring suppliers meet or exceed minimum requirements;

  • Maintain the Supplier Quality Requirements Manual;

  • Refines the supplier rating systems to reflect the actual cost of doing business.

  • Solicits cost savings and/or manufacturability suggestions from the supply base;

  • Manages projects related to supplier development;

  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.;

  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and manufacturing personnel.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university plus five to eight years related experience and/or training.

  • Four additional years of experience is accepted instead of a bachelor’s degree.

  • Familiar with TS-16949, ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14000 quality system standards.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints or government regulations.

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

  • Some travel, including air travel, is required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
