The Supply Chain Manageris accountable for the effective management of forecasting, demand planning, procurement, supplier development and new product introduction activities. Executes strategic initiatives to reduce lead time, increase inventory turns and improve supplier quality and cost. The manager leads Sales & Operations planning driving cross functional alignment and improved forecast accuracy. This individual will provide consistent, fair, and timely feedback to team members through various channels, i.e., one on one opportunities, reviews, coaching, mentoring, and training in accordance with the company culture.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Directing the strategic and tactical activities of Purchasing, Scheduling, Planning, Forecasting and Supplier Development.
Champions Sales & Operations Planning, Demand Planning and Strategic Purchasing
Accountable all procurement activities to support New Product Introduction following APQP guidelines
Represent SCM function in APQP activities for all new product launches.
Control, monitor, and evaluate the materials process via key performance indicators and driving short and long term resolution
Manage and develop direct reports and provide exceptional support and training to advance their development within the organization.
Implement strategic supply chain vision driving increased inventory turns with no impact to on time delivery and quality
Accountable for GT Supplier Development Program, implementation of Zero Defects policy with suppliers and Value Add Value Engineering Activities
Accountable for all negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, transportation.
Manage and maintain effective communication with all internal and external partners, such as suppliers, members of the Management team, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Marketing and/or the Director of Operations.
Actively participate in teams working towards continuous process & systems improvements, elimination of the 7 wastes, and Production Part Approval Process.
This job has supervisory responsibilities over Purchasing (Buyers) and could be expanded based on experience.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five or more years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have a broad understanding of the functional components of forecasting, demand planning, strategic procurement, lean manufacturing and pull systems. Background in production scheduling a plus.
Must speak, read, and write in English. Certifications Commercial Vehicles experienced beneficial but not required.APICS, Lean, and Six Sigma would be beneficial but not required.
