Reports To: Finance Director

Location: Brookville, OH

The Brookville, OH Cost Accountant will apply principals of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. The Cost Accountant will develop, interpret, and implement compl0065 financial and accounting systems for planning and control. The Cost Accountant will partner with and coach multi-functional teams to improve upon performance and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Access Report Writer – (Inventory Analysis, Work In Process reviews, Margin Analysis, Variance Analysis)

  • Obsolete Inventory Reporting, Journal Entries, and Administration of reporting and management overrides.

  • PPV Reporting, Standard and Special Situation for engineering value and projects.

  • Scrap Reporting, Partner with QA to help them reduce scrap and improve the corrective action process.

  • Reconciliation of intercompany inventory transfers.

  • Cycle Count, Partner with Supply Chain to help build a robust process with the goal of eliminating the need for annual physical inventory.

  • Partner with Supply Chain to audit purchase price reviews to update standard costs.

  • Provide guidance with cross functional teams during the JDE implementation. This may include the Project, Inventory, Financial Reporting and Fixed Asset Modules.

  • Conduct special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policy, procedure, control or action.

  • Analyze financial information to determine present and future financial performance.

  • Identify trends and recommend improvements accordingly.

  • Establish databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans for forecasts.

  • Plan, study and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.

  • Analyze data obtained and record results.

  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

  • Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports.

  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and 4+ years in Cost Accounting manufacturing environment is required. MBA is preferred.

  • Long term forecasting projecting financial results with the ability to make corresponding strategic recommendations to Business Unit Leaders.

  • Best in class knowledge of financial practices, GAAP, cost management, supply chain and manufacturing/operations is required.

Computers and Technology

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Knowledge of JDE or other MRP Manufacturing Systems is required.

Certifications

  • Six Sigma, CPA or CMA is preferred.
