Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist processes, reports, validates and pays vendor invoices and US sales taxes, carrying out corporate accounting policies, systems, and controls. The individual is also responsible for recording, interpreting and reporting financial and statistical data in order to supply management with the necessary information to make sound business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of the accounts payable function by matching purchase orders to invoices and entering the invoices according to department policies and deadlines.

  • Liaise with the procurement and accounting teams in Mexico.

  • Prepares check runs, wire transfers, and ACH transactions.

  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders

  • Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.

  • Perform regular reconciliations of supplier statements in accordance with company policy.

  • Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records and reports.

  • Prepare journal entries as needed to keep intercompany accounts in balance at month end.

  • Provide back up for Concur Administrator.

  • Organize and maintain filing systems encompassing individual work responsibilities to insure timely retrieval of materials.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of department policies and procedures to insure correct communication of information.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent is required; an Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business degree is preferred

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of direct Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Five (5) or more years related experience in Accounting or Finance

  • High-volume processing and enterprise level ERP experience

  • Fluent in business Spanish is required (please be sure to indicate this on your resume)
