IMI Precision Engineering Mechanical Engineer in Farmington, Connecticut

Location: Farmington, CT
This Farmington, CT based Mechanical Engineer will work as a technical team member to provide the highest level of Engineering Advantage to our customers by improving designs for manufacturing, profitability, performance, quality, and customer requirements on existing and new products; providing design support on existing products to all departments; evaluating all ECN’s and BOM revisions to drive customer satisfaction and contribute to sales growth. Also, perform routine processes requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out production sustaining engineering duties, redesign of existing products, and design of new products.

Work within the company management system with emphasis in the Advanced Production Quality Planning process.
Design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirements.
Apply sound engineering judgment to problem solving in both design work and in production issues.
Perform standard design calculations and support engineering efforts on critical projects which includes idea/concept development, prototype evaluation, concept verification, and production design validation.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products on both a domestic and global level.
Design and implement verification and validation programs to insure designs are adequate for intended purpose.
Develop project timelines, risk assessment, test methods, and implementation plans for programs under candidate’s responsibility.
Troubleshoot and resolve product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency. Support VAVE and product transfers.
Research requirements, present design options, and document results for project team or engineering management.
Independently develop, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Interface directly with customers and end users to understand application needs and product design potential. Present design concepts to external customers for review.
Coordinate complex design and project activities with other engineers onsite and for production facilities. Ensure performance, quality, and reliability are maintained throughout the design cycle.
Mentor junior engineers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering plus 3 (three) years related Engineering experience
Skills and Competencies
Strong skills in Engineering techniques including technical writing, failure investigation / root cause analysis, design for manufacturability.
Computers and Technology
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and MRP Systems.
Proficient in 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
Knowledge of CAE software.
