Overview

Summary

This position drives quality and process improvements by performing timely inspection of materials received, in work and returned product, initiating Nonconformance reports as needed. This position supports containment actions as needed through the sampling/inspection of finished goods, work in process and/or components. Additionally this position performs the calibration of test and measurement equipment and coordinates the collection and pick-up/shipment of equipment needing to be calibrated externally.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Interprets drawings and specifications and performs dimensional inspection and component and finished products to verify compliance to requirements

  2. Effectively communicates identified non-conformance issues to the appropriate personnel

  3. Initiates Nonconforming Material Reports as needed

  4. Assist Quality Engineer with measurements in accordance with Measuring Systems Analysis plan and Gage R&R plan

  5. Completes measuring equipment calibration in accordance with released procedures, as assigned

  6. Conducts system and product audits as needed

  7. Lay out inspections.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Familiar with dimensional measuring equipment including:

  4. Coordinate Measuring Machine, digital Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage, and Optical Comparator.

  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills

  6. Proficient with blue print reading including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Computers and Technology

Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

Certifications

Certification as Inspector (CMI) by the American Society for Quality preferred
