The purpose of this position is to work as a technical team leader to provide the highest level of Engineering Advantage to our customers by improving designs for manufacturing, profitability, performance, quality, and customer requirements on existing and new products; to provide design support on existing products to all departments within the company; to provide evaluation of all ECN’s and BOM revisions to drive customer satisfaction and contribute to sales growth. Oversee and develop routine processes, which require application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out production sustaining engineering duties, redesign of existing products, and design of new products.
Work within the Company Management System with emphasis in the Advanced Production Quality Planning process.
Design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirements.
Applies sound engineering judgment to problem solving in both design work and in production issues.
Perform standard design calculations and support Engineering efforts on critical projects which includes idea/ concept development, prototype evaluation, concept verification, and production design validation.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products on both a domestic and global level.
Design and implement verification and validation programs to insure designs are adequate for intended purpose.
Develop project timelines, risk assessment, test methods, and implementation plans for programs under candidate’s responsibility.
Troubleshoots and resolves product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency. Supports VAVE and product transfers.
Researches requirements, presents design options, and documents results for project team or engineering management.
Independently develops or selects, and applies engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Interfaces directly with customers and end users to understand application needs and product design potential. Presents design concepts to external customers for review.
Coordinate complex design and project activities with other Engineers onsite and for production facilities. Ensure performance, quality, and reliability are maintained throughout the design cycle.
Draw engineering conclusions and act upon them within the area of technical proficiency.
Provides substantial technical input during project reviews (design, drawing, manufacturing, etc.)
Resolves issues or problems concerning conflicting design requirements or specifications
Supervises and Mentors junior engineers.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field plus a minimum of 20 years of mechanical design experience OR Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME, MSChE, MBA) plus 15 years experience.
Knowledge of IMI products and capabilities is desired.
Skills and Competencies
Ability to draw on previous experience to solve design and development problems.
Advanced skills in writing technical reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Ability to use mathematical tools including probability and statistics to identify, quantify, and resolve problems. Correctly use standard test and measurement equipment to quantify design margins and product problems.
Be able to manage simultaneous tasks.
Responsible for assignments and the tenacity to drive assignments to successful conclusion.
Ability to positively communication with internal and external customers to address their needs promptly and follow through on commitments.
Ability to identify, quantify, and resolve problems by collecting facts and drawing valid conclusions and able to defend ideas or design alternatives using data and analysis.
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from subordinates, peers, managers and customers.
Operate with minimal supervision and guidance. Consults with Manager concerning unusual problems or developments.
Candidate must have demonstrated new product development (NPD) experience in NG technologies with respect to fluid control in either the Commercial Vehicle/Automotive or Oil & Gas sectors.
Demonstrated product engineering and NPD experience with fluid control or pneumatics. Candidate to have demonstrated,3-D CAD design experience.
Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable preparing and presenting to executive management.
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with an APQP-based (or similar) stage-gate NPD process
Computers and Technology
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Proficient in 3D Cad
PE license is highly desirable.
