IMI Precision Engineering Automation Engineer in Littleton, Colorado

Overview

Identify, evaluate and implement robotic or automated manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, efficiencies, and increase productivity.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and integrate robots or automation into a product assembly cell.

  2. Manage all aspects of the engineering design: mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/Robotic programming.

  3. Manage multidisciplinary teams, leading a project from conception to completion.

  4. Ensure automated process meets all process and product design specifications.

  5. Conduct training for equipment technicians and operators.

  6. Generate procedures and work instructions to prescribed style and format.

  7. Troubleshoot, support and continuously improve existing automated solutions.

  8. Evaluate and provide economic justification of projects.

  9. Drive Design for Automated Manufacturability and Zero Defect strategies into new and current products.

  10. Research and development of new, cutting edge automation concepts.

  11. Special Projects and Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with emphasis on Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or Robotics from four-year college or university is required.

  2. Minimum of 3 years hands on experience implementing robots or automation in a manufacturing assembly setting.

  3. Familiarity with industry providers of robotics or automation products.

  2. Previous hands-on automation experience involving industrial controls and programming.

  6. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  7. Must have and use good judgment.

  8. Ability to handle tasks in an environment that can be stressful at times. Accept responsibility for assignments and have the tenacity to drive these assignments to successful conclusion. Positively communicate with customers internally and externally to address their needs promptly and follow through on commitments.

  9. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subordinates, peers, managers, and customers.

  10. Working knowledge of Quality system and standards.

Computers and Technology

Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook). Fluency in one or more robot programming languages. Preference for at least basic use of a 3D CAD system such as Pro-E or Solid Works.
