IMI Precision Engineering FMLA and Leave Administrator in Littleton, Colorado

Overview

Responsible for the administration of the full life cycle of all Leaves of Absence, which includes but is not limited to: FMLA, state leaves, unpaid personal leaves, and Short-Term Disability (STD). Provides support and advice to clients on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related issues.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • FMLA Leave Administration: 1) Administers all aspects of the leave of absence program to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations 2) Determines employee eligibility for leave and designates appropriate leave status 3) Requests and obtains completed certification and re-certification forms 4) Provides required notices designating leave as FMLA, notifying employees of the status of group benefit coverage, their other rights and obligations, and requirements for return to work 5) Coordinates communication between employees and managers during the leave 6) Serves as primary point of contact for clients and responds to all inquiries 7) Coordinates the return-to-work process for FMLA leaves of absence

  • Other Leave Administration: 1) Ensures all applicable leave laws are considered and applied, and coordinates with paid time off and other leave and insurance programs 3) Communicates with employees and managers regarding leave designation and status

  • Record Maintenance: 1) Maintains databases and performs other tasks to ensure the accuracy of FMLA and personal leave records and files 2) Ensures confidentiality of employee medical and leave records

  • Proactive Consultation and Guidance: 1) Reviews and recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations 2) Analyzes leave trends and makes recommendations 3) Supports development and maintenance of policies, forms, and practices on all leave processes 4) Makes recommendations for improvements in an effort to gain internal efficiencies and enhance the client experience

Work Environment:

  • Regular office environment. Work primarily in a climate controlled environment

Travel Expectations:

  • Very little travel likely

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred in human resources or management

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR program administration; experience dealing with confidential information, complex record-keeping and file management, and counseling employees;

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience administering FMLA and other leave programs in a multi-state environment

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of HRIS platforms

Additional Certifications:

  • FMLA and/or PHR certification desired

Other Requirements:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, including FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, USERRA, PDA, HIPAA and other privacy laws
