IMI Precision Engineering Production Planner II in Littleton, Colorado

Overview

The Production Planner II reviews product demand and schedules production, to meet internal and external customer demand; this includes direct orders, internal and external, and make-to-stock orders. The lean initiative requires the planner to master pull systems components such as sales & operations planning, heijunka (level loading) and kanban among other methodologies. As product demand, component availability, and capacity availability changes, Production Planner II adjusts the schedules accordingly and communicates updated delivery information to all necessary parties. The Production Planner II is a knowledge leader in Enterprise Resources Planning and Master Production Scheduling.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Plan and schedule production; prepare production schedules for manufacturing of industrial or commercial products.

  2. Make sure each operation meets shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer requirements.

  3. Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine timely product delivery.

  4. Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) is used to determine pull system quantities and level loading decisions, in order that work centers receive a steady work load.

  5. Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.

  6. Plan sequence of assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.

  7. Determine the status of assigned projects expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

  8. Prepare production reports and/or prepare purchase orders to obtain materials.

  9. Plan the process for manufacture, fabrication, assembly and installation of parts, components and assemblies.

  10. Verify bills of material parts availability and advise shortages to purchase or machining planners.

  11. Prepare defined work package bills of materials to initiate and control production work.

  12. Ensure all parties are fully cognizant of production status, & that work planning and execution objectives are integrated & communicated.

  13. Coordinate & expedite the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material.

  14. Interface with Purchasing, Engineering or Vendors to coordinate the shipment of products.

  15. Schedule, expedite, & coordinate the delivery & movement of critical material, including material transfers & conditional material releases.

  16. Initiate replacement orders for lost, damaged or discrepant items.

  17. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. BS/BA Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics/Operations, Engineering or other related field. An appropriate combination of education and directly related experience is acceptable if the ability to perform duties and responsibilities is demonstrated.

  2. 3-5 years procurement or other supply chain related experience with demonstrated ability to perform essential functions.

Computers and Technology

  1. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) and ERP System.

Certificates and Licenses

  1. APICS CPIM Preferred
