We are looking for a Sr. Engineering and Design Manager to join & lead our team. This position requires a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing others.

Overview

The Sr. Applications Engineering Manager is a key, hands- on, leadership role. The Sr. Applications Engineering Manager will lead and coordinate activities of the core everyday functions of: program management, core engineering, automation design, and field service. This position has responsibility for two sites.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, discipline, and management of their employees; measured by the achievement of safety, quality, efficiency, development, and retention goals of the organization.

  • Build and manage an applications (including design, core engineering, program managers, and field service) engineering team that is efficient, project oriented, with a strong customer focus that provides products and services that meet the needs of our organization and customers.

  • Define and Lead strategic planning initiatives and organizational changes as needs are identified.

  • Optimizes assigned groups and coordinates across the organization to achieve successful completion of projects/jobs to highest level of quality, while meeting internal KPI standards (on-time delivery and budget).

  • Responsible for the day to day coordination of the Rochester Hills facility management.

  • Partners across the organization to ensure effective delivery of products and services.

  • Leads in a way that build teams and can promotes positive, effective relations and teamwork as established in the IMI Way and Leadership Blueprint within the organization.

  • Provide direction of Company goals and objectives, both short-term and long-term, through direct communication and guidance of associates. Establish the assigned area’s priorities and ensure timely completion, consistent with company & customer needs.

  • Monitor and approve department expenditures and budgets relating to projects and activities. As large capital expenditures are identified, make recommendations where applicable.

  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure appropriateness to current workload levels. Guide department supervisors in prioritization of area workloads and optimization of staff to meet and/or exceed daily challenges accordingly.

  • Ensure a safe work environment for all who enter our plants. Follows all safety guidelines including utilization of proper PPE.

  • Responsible fo accurately quoting new work and cost control for revisions to amended scope of work.

  • Supports global growth regarding region based design needs. Localized training and hiring support.

  • 30% travel.

  • Possess strong program management, engineering, and design knowledge.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or international equivalent and 5+ years of related work experience or 10+ years of related, progressive, work experience.

  2. 5+ years’ experience of demonstrated ability to lead and foster a team.

  3. Previous experience with managing departmental P&L.

  4. Proven experience with managing design/engineering workload capacity.

  5. Previous successful customer facing experience.

Computers and Technology

  1. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
