IMI Precision Engineering Quality Assurance Supervisor in Saline, Michigan

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our team. This position requires a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast paced environment and enjoys facing new challenges.

Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is a hands on supervisor that is responsible for guiding quality activities of the Operations to ensure quality standards are being identified, established, and followed. The Quality Assurance Supervisor formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives, supervises and trains employees, and engages in plant functions. This role has dual site responsibilities between Saline and Rochester Hills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform various quality techniques to track, analyze, and report on materials, products, and processes. Provide results of performance to appropriate personnel.

  • Make improvement recommendations and lead change initiatives as opportunities and new expectations are identified.

  • Utilize advanced quality tools and techniques, such as SPC, Lean Manufacturing, etc., ensure they are built into the internal manufacturing and assembly processes in accordance with Company quality standards, documentation requirements, and internal procedures.

  • Monitor, audit and make necessary changes to our ISO system. Prepare and support all internal and external ISO and FFQS audits. Responsible for establishing corrective actions, and closing any issues noted by the audits in a timely manner.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Production Control to understand and resolve issues as they arise.

  • Manages the quality of incoming materials or components as well as finished goods and work in progress.

  • Demonstrates, promotes, and enforces utilization of proper PPE all safety guidelines including LOTO.

  • Provide leadership, guidance and training to the Quality Team in a supervisor function, works closely with the Quality Team, help identify area goals and objectives; measure results of output; and provide continuous feedback via the Performance Management process, meetings, etc.

  • Initiate and drive problem-solving activities relating to identified issues using 8D’s, Pareto’s, and corrective/preventive action techniques.

  • Keeps work area clean and organized to insure safety and environmental compliance.

  • Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing, provide input on determining appropriate inspection and testing mechanisms/equipment/procedures as new products are developed, and/or existing product changes are made.

  • Support the ongoing supplier development program with the intent of creating a full Dock-to-Stock program of incoming materials and parts from external suppliers as required. Assist and support Supplier Development personnel to evaluate supplier performance against supplier rating system.

  • Implement processes to inspect incoming materials and parts from external suppliers as required. Track, analyze, and report on inspection findings from external suppliers. Work closely with Purchasing to evaluate supplier performance against supplier rating system.

  • Input data into the Norgren Metric Tracking System (BPR) at scheduled frequencies to maintain and improve the company’s Quality Management System. Attend, participate in Norgren BPR meetings and address any proposed action plans as a result of any negative trending of the BPR metrics.

  • Lead efforts toward the development and maintenance of Quality internal systems and procedures; databases, equipment, automation, documentation, and departmental records.

  • Serve as the voice of Quality in meetings and activities involving Corrective Actions.

  • Aides the company to stay in compliance to its quality registrations. (Pass audits)

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. Associate degree, and 5+ years of related experience OR

  2. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field and 2 years’ related experience

  3. Leadership experience preferred

Skills and Competencies

  1. Self-motivated, proactive individual capable of working as a member of a team, leading teams and operating independently

  8. Experienced in Audits and leading continuous improvement through quality Systems.

  9. Knowledgeable in SPC practices and methodology.

Computers and Technology

  1. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
