IMI Precision Engineering Director of Sales - Factory Automation in University Park, Illinois

Overview

The individual is responsible and accountable for all sales activities and sales personnel working toward the achievement of related sales budget, goals and objectives within the Commercial – Motion Control (Factory Automation) sector in the US and Canada. This is a senior level field management position focused on indirect channels. The position has a large revenue responsibility, with approximately 12 regional sales managers.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement defined strategies and tactics to achieve budgeted order input, revenue shipment and profitability levels within the assigned sector.

  2. Execute and contribute to marketing programs consistent with product line strategies to generate lead referral, new account acquisitions and revenue/market share gains.

  3. Responsible for all independent distributors and the communication of goals and objectives to Commercial – Motion Control (Factory Automation) sales team.

  4. Develop specific business and sales plans to achieve growth objectives in support of new product development introductions and engineering services portfolio.

  5. Prepare, negotiate, and manage customer pricing programs and contracts within assigned customer base. Ensure all terms and conditions are being upheld.

  6. Attract, train, motivate, and develop high potential sales personnel to aid in the attainment of divisional goals and objectives.

  7. Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with each channel partner and/or major end users. This may include multi state or regional/corporate headquarters liaison activity.

  8. Fairly arbitrate customer and channel conflicts within assigned scope.

  9. Maintain a general awareness of development within the market to provide feedback on channel and customer issues, competitor activities, pricing trends, consolidation activities and marketing initiatives.

  10. Ensure team maintains accurate account data in the CRM system.

  11. Provide timely and complete reports and other information as required by management.

  12. Travel as required (up to 50% of total work hours).

  13. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in Business or Engineering required

  2. 10+ years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  3. 7+ years’ experience sales and managing field teams

Skills and Competencies

  1. Knowledge of fluid power and motion control products.

  2. Skillful negotiator, superior written and oral communications.

  3. Well organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  4. Ability to build rapport internally and externally

Computers and Technology

  1. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  2. Understanding of CRM and ERP Systems

Other

  1. Valid Driver’s License

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, performance management, coaching, supervision, fostering teamwork, training and development of one or more employees.
