IMI Norgren GT Development is located in Auburn, Washington and provides Engineering solutions and manufactures products for the Commercial Vehicle industry.
The Electrical Engineer is a key member of the engineering & design team for new product development and improving designs for manufacturing, profitability, performance, quality, and customer requirements on existing and new products; to provide design support on existing products to all departments within the company. The position is responsible from conception to production and supports and/or lead critical aspects of the projects that are vital to the business strategy. The design team works within the Advance Product Quality Planning methodology through a Tollgate process to release products to the market.
Identify, design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting or exceeding customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirements.
Lead project teams; research requirements, presents design options, and document results for project teams and engineering management.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Act as consultant to less experienced engineers and other within the organization.
Work within and lead the continuous improvement of the Company Management System with emphasis in the Advanced Product Quality Planning process.
Select and perform design calculations and directs engineering efforts on critical projects which includes: idea/ concept development, prototype evaluation, concept verification, and production design validation.
Effectively utilize various CAD programs to create simple models and printed circuit board layout & schematic drawings for various components.
Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers and consultants.
Determine and create testing methods for products at different phases in the development and present analysis of findings. This may include setup and report writing.
Troubleshoot and resolve product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency and within required company timeframes. Supports VAVE and product transfers.
Apply advanced engineering judgment to problem solving in both design work and in production issues.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products on both a domestic and global level.
Lead the design and implementation verification and validation programs to ensure designs are adequate for intended purpose.
Keep area clean and organized in accordance with 5S standards.
Communicate and behave in a professional manner that supports the mission, vision, and policies of the organization.
Mentor and direct the work of others.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and more than 12 years of related experience or
Masters in Electrical Engineering and more than 5 years related Engineering experience.
Skills and Competencies
Advanced skills in engineering techniques and technical writing.
Knowledge of engineering terms and standard engineering techniques.
Able to independently perform circuit design.
Able to construct PCB layout.
Proficient in the troubleshooting of hardware and software.
Able to perform soldering and wiring.
Completes and constructs technical documentation.
Able to perform analogue and digital simulation.
Proficient with hardware and software integration.
Computers and Technology
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Knowledgeable in 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Ability to create and edit basic 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
Advanced Visual Basic and C++ programming skills.
Intermediate command of communication protocols.
Intermediate embedded software design skills.
